Rameshwar Mehta of Harinagar Rural Municipality-3, Sunsari, has embarked on commercial dragon fruit farming across five kattha of land, setting an ambitious annual income target of NRs 1.2 million. This significant agricultural venture commenced with an initial investment of approximately NRs 800,000, showcasing a strategic shift from traditional farming methods. Mehta's investment details reveal a substantial NRs 156,000 allocated solely for planting materials, highlighting the specialized nature of this high-value crop. The remaining capital was meticulously spent on essential infrastructure such as pillars, specialized holders, and ongoing operational costs including compost, pesticides, irrigation, and labor wages. This initiative serves as a compelling example of innovative farming practices contributing to local economic growth and diversification.
